As many fanatic Star Wars fans know, Mark Hamill plays the beloved Luke Skywalker in the original trilogy and The Force Awakens. He also starred in Kingsman: The Secret Service as well last year. Mr Hamill should be a deservingly candidate for the presitigous Oscar for being best actor of 2015. After all, he showcased that he really is a Jedi after he hung upside down for ages in The Empire Strikes Back…
Why you may ask? Well after his fascinating display as Professor Arnold in Kingsman: The Secret Service whereby in the very first scene he captivates the audience with his action-packed stunts whilst on a chair. He clearly mind-controlled the entire scene… I mean come on, the opening scene wouldn’t even be that good if it wasn’t for him!! Not only that but his facial expressions are off the chart and like any merited nominee would, he surely told the audience the story through his eyes, even when the movie had just begun…
And of course his screenplay in Star Wars: The Force Awakens was phenomenal.
***Please do not read ahead if you have not seen the movie… Well the real question is why haven’t you seen it!?!***
Anyways… Mark Hamill reprised his role as Luke Skywalker as well as the other two main protaginists of the original trilogy – Carrie Fisher as Princess Leia and Harrison Ford as Han Solo. Although the latter two experienced more screen time than Mark, he clearly stole the entire movie with his fantastic line (quoted by himself) being: “…………!” He even gave a heads up for the next movie which shows his compassion towards the audience and what a true hero he is:
Regarding his performance, it is very creditable of an oscar as it is a major part of the entire movie. The passion he showed, the determination, you could see it all in his eyes. Like in many movies there is a quote that goes by: ‘The eyes never lie’ that was clearly the case for Mark Hamill. Not only that, it was the anticipation that the movie essentially revolved around Luke Skywalker’s location. Again, if it wasn’t for Mark Hamill and hence Luke Skywalker there could have been no Star Wars: The Force Awakens!!
So it’s not just Mark’s acting but the storylines in these two movies and the vitality of the roles he plays is much, much, much worthy of an Oscar. #HamillForAnOscar
